Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then found multiple other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations show the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.
A high-ranking political figure said the vandalism made him without words and required to be resolved promptly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the murder of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
